STORY LINE
MARINE SERGEANT NANTZ leads his new platoon against a surprise attack on Los Angeles, attempting to rescue civilians in Santa Monica and destroy the hub of the enemy's mysterious power grid, while similar epic battles are waged across the world in other cities...

[LT. BENNIE MARTINEZ] 25 years old, Hispanic, a strong young Marine straight out of basics school, his youthful looks and open smile contrast with his muscular frame. He's recently been promoted to Lieutenant and he's happily married to his very pregnant wife, Anna. Martinez used to play college football and moves with the grace of an athlete. Brave, skilled and compassionate, he is uncertain as to how to react against an unpredictable enemy, but he leads his men with courage...LEAD (7)

[PRIVATE IMLAY] (ANY ETHNICITY) 19, a good-natured, brave, well-meaning country boy, this Marine in the 1st platoon, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines (2/5) prides himself on looking out for Private Lenihan, the rookie. Imlay's a motormouth who can't resist interrupting people and is often told to shut his trap...LEAD (3)

[CORPORAL CORREGGIO] (ANY ETHNICITY) 20 years old, line-backer big, he's a tough Marine with the 2/5 who lost a brother to combat and bitterly blames Nantz for it. Although he initially comes across as sullen and angry toward Nantz, which causes tension in the ranks, Correggio also has a kind, considerate side: he defends the rookie, Lenihan; looks out for Private Kerns; and helps takes care of Kirsten, a scared little civilian girl...LEAD (3)

[PRIVATE KERNS] (ANY ETHNICITY) 19 years old, an antsy fireplug of a guy, this Marine with the 2/5 has seen real combat on his last tour and has the shrapnel wounds to prove it. He's being treated by a psychiatrist and has anxiety about returning to battle, afraid that he'll freeze up or panic. Kerns tries to bring a smile to the faces of the scared civilian kids by giving them ice cream during a rare quiet moment between warfare. He trusts Nantz completely and believes in him as a leader. He's grateful and humbled by Nantz's respect.sptv050769..LEAD (4)

[CORPSMAN ADUKWU] 20 years old, a tall, thin Nigerian with a thick accent, he is a medic Marine in the 2/5 who came to the U.S. to be a doctor and earn his citizenship. He's got the skills to be an excellent surgeon. He jokes that he'd rather be in Afghanistan. Adukwu is calm under fire, expertly bandaging his fellow Marines' wounds as battles rage...LEAD (20) (OPEN TO OTHER ETHNICITIES)

[PRIVATE LENIHAN] (ANY ETHNICITY) 18 years old, baby-faced and eager, brave and committed, the clear rookie of the group, he's a new Marine with the 2/5 who got his mom to sign permission for him to join up at age 17. While hanging out with the guys, Lenihan pukes from nerves, drinking too much, or both. He also sprains his ankle during his first training session with Nantz, whom he idolizes....LEAD (3)

[CORPORAL DEVREY HARRIS] 22 years old, African American, this Marine with the 2/5 is suffering through wedding preparations with his fiancee, Cherise, and somewhat pained by the planning and costs. He clearly loves her, though, and once he's away from her in the midst of battle, he feels guilty for pressuring her to marry him -- because if she hadn't moved to L.A., she might be safe right now in Chicago...LEAD (10)

[CORPORAL NICK STAVROU] (PREFERABLY OF MEDITERRANEAN HERITAGE) 23 years old, a strong, hulking, intimidating Marine (of Greek descent by way of New Jersey), he teases his friend Harris a bit about Harris's upcoming nuptials. During a terrifying attack, Stavrou yells at Private Simmons to keep it together, and he demands additional room for the injured in a Medevac chopper...LEAD (10)

[MICHELE] (CAUCASIAN) 28 years old, this civilian woman, a veterinarian originally from Nebraska, was taking care of her nieces, Kirsten and Amy, when a surprise attack left them stranded in a community center. She's rattled by the terrifying circumstances and her responsibility for her sister's children, but makes herself very useful by helping the Marines. She and Nantz share a moment or two amid the chaos...SUPPORTING (38)

[JOE RINCON] (HISPANIC) 45 years old, calm and watchful, in a suit and tie, this civilian man is stranded at the community center with his son, Hector. Rincon and Michele rely on one another and herd the kids to a bus on a daring escape. Despite his lack of training, Rincon is determined to help the Marines he's come to know, and takes up a weapon. Scared but resolute, he's a quick study with an M-16...SUPPORTING (38)

[PRIVATE SIMMONS] (ANY ETHNICITY) A Marine with the 2/5, and a surfer with a slightly spaced-out vibe, he "likes to blow sh*t up". He freaks out, demanding to know where the attackers came from and why they're here...SUPPORTING (12)

[CORPORAL GRAYSTON] (ANY ETHNICITY) 23 years old, a grizzled and hardened Marine squadron leader with the 2/5, he is Simmons' friend and a fellow surfer. He reminds Simmons that life isn't fair, nor should anyone expect it to be...SUPPORTING (12)

[PRIVATE MOTTOLA] (ANY ETHNICITY, Late teens-early 20s) A tall, thin, squad radio man with the 2/5 Marines, he brings messages to Lt. Martinez from command and he's horrified by Guerrero's blindness. Most of the time, Mottola maintains a controlled sense of urgency, and he immediately shuts down his transmission system when it becomes clear the attackers are using it to track the Marines...SUPPORTING (16)

[PRIVATE GUERRERO] (ANY ETHNICITY, Late teens-early 20s) A lumbering Marine with the 2/5, he is friends with Mottola and watches news of the attack with increasing confusion and horror. In battle, he provides cover and is slashed across both eyes and blinded...SUPPORTING (16)

[HECTOR] (HISPANIC) 8-10 years old, sweet and brave, he is Joe Rincon's son who is trapped in the community center with him. Hector participates in a daring escape from a bombed out freeway. Angry, scared and upset, he bonds with Nantz, who gives him an official 2/5 Marines medallion... SUPPORTING (38)

[KIRSTEN] (CAUCASIAN) 8 years old, one of Michele's nieces, this scared, devastated little girl is trapped in a community center during an attack. She hugs Imlay and holds Correggio's hand for comfort. She screams when she's scared and participates in a daring escape from a bombed out freeway...SUPPORTING (38)

[AMY] (CAUCASIAN) 10 years old, one of Michele's nieces, this scared, devastated little girl is trapped in a community center during an attack. She worriedly asks Imlay if he's going to leave them. She, her little sister Kirsten, and Hector start crying when they hear the enemy outside. She also participates in a daring escape from a bombed out freeway...SUPPORTING (38)

[1ST SERGEANT JOHN ROY] (ANY ETHNICITY) In his late 30s, stationed at Camp Pendleton, he has a friendly rapport with Sergeant Nantz and expresses surprise at Nantz's apparent decision to retire.
