Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides - Filming News

Labels: , ,

Thanks to DarthLocke for the heads up.

The production crew for the latest Pirates in the Caribbean blockbuster descended on Knole House this week to use it for filming.

Joggers using the deer park in Sevenoaks said lorry-loads of equipment and props were taken on to the site last weekend and have remained there throughout the week.

The courtyard area of the historic country house, near its tearoom, was cordoned off and covered in mud to create the impression of mudflats by a river estuary, with boats scattered about as if left stranded by the tide.

Other props could have been used for an execution or torture scene.

However, don’t expect the scenes to form a key part of the film. One movie website, quoting a security guard, said despite the expense of the set it may only feature for a couple of minutes in the final cut.

The fourth instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has been titled On Stranger Tides and is set to be a summer blockbuster next year.

Johnny Depp will reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, with Ian McShane co-starring as pirate Blackbeard and Penelope Cruz playing his daughter.

But the three main stars of the film are not believed to have taken part in the filming at Knole this week.

The stately home was also used for filming black comedy Burke and Hare, starring Shaun Pegg and Andy Serkis, which is being screened in cinemas nationwide now.

A spokeswoman for Knole House, which is owned by the National Trust, refused to comment on the filming for Pirates of the Caribbean 4.
