Thanks to the team at Coming Soon for the heads up about this new image that seems to reveal the "Space Jockey Suits". It is not too clear, but with a little adjustment to the image with Photoshop you can get a slightly better look of the suits that are hidden in the dark background.

Nothing too revealing but it does provide a bit of a hint.

Ed's 2012 Golden Globe Predictions

Having seen Kyle's predictions, my don't differ too much, but I thought I'd share them for those interested anyway.

It's that time of year again. The Golden Globes are one of the more prestigious awards events, hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and is an event that rewards outstanding achievement in film and television. After the Oscars, and the Grammy awards, the ceremony is generally considered to be the 3rd most watched awards show in the world, hinting at its significance for those within the 'biz.

For some, it is a 'watered-down' version of the Oscars, which are due to take place at the end of next month, but I'd disagree with that sentiment, and maintain that the Golden Globes does have its merit. It's not a clear indicator of who is going to take home the gong next month, and should not be considered an Oscar warm-up in any shape or form. Its method of splitting film into two categories (Drama and Musical/Comedy) gives a greater opportunity for brilliant yet understated films to recieve some form of awards recognition.

It's not without a little controversy, however. Giving praise to the little man is an admirable trait, but nominating 'The Tourist' (as it did last year) seemed slightly out of the blue, considering the film had been critically condemned, and performed below-par at the US box office.

And then there's Ricky...

For a third consecutive stint, Ricky Gervais is returning to host the awards. Generating more controversy than any of his stand-up gigs combined, many thought that he'd finally severed the bond between himself and the HFPA, yet here he is again, and when it was announced, you could probably feel Hollywood's butt clench with the anxiety of having the British comedian return once more, utterly packed with witty anecdotes, biting remarks and I'm sure, one or two new Charlie Sheen-based zingers.

Anyway, on to the nominations.

Again, you can never be sure with the Globes, and though I'm yet to see 2 of these films, I'm going to go with the general buzz and predict The Descendants to come out on top of an otherwise impressive looking group of films.

The Artist
Bridesmaids
Midnight In Paris
My Week With Marilyn

Again, some heavyweights here; Bridesmaids was the smash hit, and could, like The Hangover did, shock some and take home the gong. Woody Allen's best film in years, Midnight In Paris, will be a definite contender, but I don't think I can look past The Artist in this group. I'm positive it'll win.

Best Male Performance -- Drama
George Clooney -- The Descendants
Leonardo DiCaprio -- J. Edgar
Michael Fassbender -- Shame
Ryan Gosling -- The Ides Of March
Brad Pitt -- Moneyball

Arguably, the top 5 male stars in Hollywood at the current moment in time -- and an incredibly close knit race. Gosling has had a terrific year, as has Pitt, both starring in at least 2 critically acclaimed hits. Fassbender continues to cement his A-list status, whilst DiCaprio is as popular as ever. However, Clooney will win here.

Best Female Performance -- Drama
Glenn Close -- Albert Nobbs
Viola Davis -- The Help
Rooney Mara -- The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
Meryl Streep -- The Iron Lady
Tilda Swinton -- We Need To Talk About Kevin

This one, I'm less sure about than any of the others. Again, cases can be made for each of them, and it's anyone's guess who's going to bag it, but going with the buzz, I'd have to pick Davis after she secured the Critics' award.

Best Male Performance -- Musical/Comedy
Jean Dujardin -- The Artist
Brendan Gleeson -- The Guard
Joseph Gordon-Levitt -- 50/50

Withstanding any major shocks, Jean Dujardin has this in the bag.

Kristen Wiig -- Bridesmaids
Michelle Williams -- My Week With Marilyn
Kate Winslet -- Carnage

Wiig surprised many in Bridesmaids, and was the driving force behind its success, I have no doubt. But I don't think she did enough to put off Hollywood's darling, Marilyn Monroe, aka Michelle Williams.

My rule regarding The Artist didn't last long. This isn't a category I admit to being an expert in, but expect Shailene Woodley to garner some praise here.

Martin Scorsese - Hugo

Personally, I'd like to see Allen or Scorsese take this one home, but I believe it's a two horse race between Payne and Hazanavicius, and whilst I have a niggling feeling that Payne will win the Oscar, expect this to go to Hazanavicius.

Take my rule about The Artist, and apply it to The Descendants as well, because Payne, Faxon and Rash (Dean Pelton from Community) have this in the bag, for me.

Ruling out the good, but severely overrated Game Of Thrones, and the perhaps slightly extreme American Horror Story, we're left with three. Boss, I know little about, but sense it's more about Kelsey Grammar's performance. Boardwalk Empire is always a safe bet, but I think the emergence of Homeland is something to be reckoned with this year.

I love Zooey Deschanel, but New Girl is her vehicle, and only works because people want to see Zooey Deschanel. It's amusing at times, and she is a gifted comedy actress, but it doesn't hold up against Modern Family, which will deservedly win again. And again. And again...

I've always rated Damian Lewis as an actor, and he undeniably rocks on Homeland, but this award may as well be called the 'As Long As Breaking Bad Is Airing, Bryan Cranston Has This In The Bag' award. I'd still expect Lewis to be nominated though. NOTE: Buscemi won it last year, but Breaking Bad has had its best season to date (which is saying a lot considering it's unmatched quality).

How they keep nominating Galecki for awards over co-star Kunal Nayyer is beyond me. Either way, I'd be surprised if he won, and am going to have to credit Matt LeBlanc with this one. It's been too long.

Not a clue. Zooey Deschanel would be my stab in the dark, considering she's universally adored.

Earlier this week, we put The Bourne Legacy into our list of Top 12 Most Anticipated Movies for 2012 and mentioned that we had very little to judge the movie on. Basically, nothing had been released, until today.

Well, we get our first look at Jeremy Renner in the movie and it looks JUST like him! OMG this is such a revealing image....

We are still excited to see this movie, but this image does nothing to help and is actually quite disappointing as a promo pic.

Well, it seems like recently merchandising for big blockbuster movies is revealing more and more spoilers everyday. However, this is not a new trend and over the years several minor character spoilers such as a certain Transformer appearing or how The Lizard might look in the upcoming Spider-Man are usually the type of spoilers that have been revealed.

Something similar has happened with some HeroClix (mini action figures) for The Avengers. However, the description for the new Avengers HeroClix set actually reveals a "secret" villain.

For most this reveal is a MAJOR spoiler. So only read the following description if you want to know!

We should probably not put too much time into debating why these are the top rentals of 2011, because there are a few factors to consider with this list as pointed out by our friends at SlashFilm:

Paramount Pictures announced today it ended 2011 in the No. 1 position among all studios, having achieved the highest total combined gross of any studio for the year, earning a record $5.17 billion worldwide. The studio, which released a total of 16 new releases domestically this year, placed first in the North American market share with $1.96 billion, while also amassing record grosses at the international box office with $3.21 billion.

Yup it is THAT time of year when Top 10 lists for best or worst of the past year are popping up every where. So we have decided to join the party and release our very own list of the Most Anticipated Movies of 2012.

After a couple of down years for the box office, 2012 is filled with so many big blockbuster and highly anticipated movies, it looks like this just might be the year movie goers head back to the theaters. At the same time, picking a top 10 is practically impossible, but we did our best listing our Top 12 Most Anticipated Movies of 2012. As expected the list is filled with several sequels and action packed blockbusters.

The top few movies on the list are basically interchangeable and could be #1 any given year, but we tried to take a couple of key factors in deciding the top movies and one of the major factors was based on all of you. We really wanted the list to be based not just on our thoughts, but also the readers, so based it also on traffic to the site and the number of Likes/RTs a specific movie received.

There are several movies that did not make the list, but we considered them as "honorable mentions". Yes we know the honorable mentions list is super long, but that is how big of a year 2012 could be!

Honorable Mentions:
Act of Valor (Feb. 24th), Snow White and the Huntsman (June 1st), Total Recall (Aug 3rd), The Expendables 2, Argo (Sept 14th), The Cabin in the Woods (Apr. 13th), GI Joe 2: Retaliation (June 29th), Jack the Giant Killer (June 15th), Madagascar 3 (June 8th), Brave (June 22nd) and Looper (Sept. 28th)

12) The Bourne Legacy (Aug. 3rd) - Bourne will never be the same without Matt Damon, but Jeremy Renner has made a name for himself in Hollywood and the "Bourne" brand name is powerful enough to make this sequel/reboot/new story land on this year's list at 12. Also helping the movie is the lack of any info about it, so basically nothing too negative about it. Yet.

11) American Reunion (April 6th) - Perhaps a sequel that was not required after the horrendous 7-8 straight to DVD sequels and that is ignoring Part 2 and 3. However, the original in the series is a classic and with the WHOLE gang back and we mean everyone returning reprising their roles including Stifler's mom, this 4th main movie in the series could be one of the top comedies of the year.

10) Django Unchained (Dec. 26th) - Personally, this movie could EASILY be Top 5 in any year. Speaking of brand names, anything with Tarantino stamped on it immediately gets onto most lists as the most anticipated. So what is Django Unchained? Basically Tarantino's take on a classic revenge Western movie. Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Joseph-Gordon Leavitt, Christoph Waltz and Kurt Russell lead a stellar cast. 'Nuff said bub.

9) Skyfall - Bond 23 (Nov. 6th) - Bond, ummmm James Bond. Daniel Craig is back and for some that is not good news but for many others it is great news! Skyfall is getting some great early buzz, so much so that the producers want Craig supposedly for another 3-4 more Bonds! Skyfall is supposedly a throwback to classic Bond, but we think they said that about Quantum of Solace also. SpoilerTV has a huge international reader base with a strong presence in the UK where Bond is king and that helps boost this movie into the Top 10.

8) The Hunger Games (March 23rd) - If you have not read the books, then maybe you do not understand why this movie is on the list, but we are sure most of you do. Actually some of you are probably wondering why it is not higher. The anticipation of The Hunger Games is soooo high it almost moved it in to the Top 5. However, with so many huge movies expected this year, the #8 slot is a big accomplishment. With Harry Potter ending this past year and the last Twilight expected this year, The Hunger Games will take the top spot for a movie series based on a book series.

7) Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 (Nov 16th) - Twihards are probably hunting us down for putting the final installment of this series at #7, but they need to realize it is because of them that the movie even makes our list. Most sites are not even acknowledging the movie, but it has changed the industry and our generation forever. Twilight deserves to be on any legitimate list for most anticipated movies of 2012. For those that do not think so, then perhaps a visit to Comic Con 2012 a week before the Twilight panel will make you understand the anticipation for the movie.

6) The Amazing Spider-Man (July 4th) - Yes, yes we know, another reboot for Spider-Man probably is not the best idea and we were not fans of seeing the good ole' web slinger in his high school days. However, after the initial confusion of why we needed to go back to the early days of Peter Parker again and those terrible first set photos, most of the promotional material for the movie looks amazing. Despite some recent concerns of how the villain, The Lizard might look, Spidey is always a big box office draw and our spider sense is telling us that kids with geeky moms and dads will help generate some big fireworks for the 4th of July release. BTW, we actually do need this reboot after Spider-Man 3 ruined the series and ruined is putting it lightly.

5) Men in Black 3 (May 25th) - Well, here is another sequel that probably is not needed especially after that dreadful second part. However, it seems like it has been long enough since part 2 for us to forget about it. Hmmmmm, perhaps the producers and Will Smith figured out how to use that neuralyzer in new ways?? Because after the trailer for MiB3 hit revealing Josh Brolin as a young Agent K, it seems most of our memories were wiped clean and we are all pumped to see some crazy alien fun once again.

4) Prometheus (June 8th) - Ridley Scott, Damon Lindelof, and Alien Prequel/Reboot make this movie one of the most anticipated sci-fi movies in a very long time. Ridley Scott is one of a handful of directors that instantly commands attention and when you throw in LOST writer Damon Lindelof whom we love big time at SpoilerTV, well, we are sold. If Scott and Lindelof were doing a movie about Barbie it would probably make the most anticipated movies list. The fact we will see a story in the Alien world starring Charlize Theron and Michael Fassbender is just the cherry on top and lands this movie at #4. Sorry Damon, just bad timing because there are three movies that beat ya out this year. Maybe we can Tweet at GRR Martin and see what he thinks??

3) The Dark Knight Rises (July 20th) - Ouch, The Dark Knight Rises at #3??? Yup, it is just that kind of year and we did say that the top movies are probably interchangeable. We are all SUPER excited to see the final installment of Nolan's Batman here at SpoilerTV. Heck, with all the set videos, photos, plot spoilers and the 6 minute prologue we think we have already seen the whole movie and it all looks amazing! Well except Bane's voice. Tom Hardy is a great actor, Nolan is a great director and Nolan's vision for Batman is ALL we have every wanted in our beloved super hero movies. However, the impact that Heath Ledger had as Joker during the marketing for The Dark Knight far outweighs anything they have done for Bane and The Dark Knight Rises. Maybe that is how they wanted it. At this point we just want the movie out today and can't wait to see it!

2) The Hobbit (Dec. 14th) - Myyyy prrrecccious!! Finally, we get to return to Hobbiton! The Lord of the Rings fandom is like no other fandom and any little tidbit that we posted generated a tremendous amount of traffic to the site. We are all huge fans of LOTR here and ever since the early moments of the first movie we have been waiting for The Hobbit. Yes, they split it into two parts to make money off of us, but being able to see Peter Jackson's work in two more movies is a blessing. The recent trailer generated some serious buzz and just the last moment in the trailer with Gollum gave many of us goose bumps helping this movie leap frog ahead of The Dark Knight Rises into the second spot on our list. Why is it not #1? Well, keep reading and maybe we can convince you.

1) The Avengers (May 4th) - All we have ever wanted was a super hero movie with a ton of awesome super heroes kicking ass. Marvel is finally making all of our wishes come true this Summer! The X-Men movies got us excited and even the new X-Men: First Class was a cool take on a super hero team, but Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Hawkeye and Black Widow all fighting along side one another is just EPIC! Anything we post for this movie instantly gets serious traffic and pumps all of us up. Don't forget to check out the new Russian Trailer we JUST posted!

Shoot, don't forget to also add in the Joss Whedon factor and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury into the mix. Robert Downey Jr. will probably steal the show as Iron Man and seems to have some seriously good chemistry with the other actors/characters in the footage we have seen.

Ok not convinced yet? Yes we know some of you did not like Thor, but it was a very important movie in this series because it introduced us to Loki (Thor's evil brother) who is played by Tom Hiddleston. So if RDJ doesn't make the movie, then we really believe Hiddleston's Loki will. In fact, Loki by the end of the movie could possibly be the second best super hero villain behind Ledger's Joker.

Finally, Marvel has done a great job of throwing in some amazing cameos and Easter eggs into each of the movies. However, when the movie ends, it is actually JUST the beginning, because we all know there will be a nice little treat after the credits. We just can't wait for May 4th!

A hooded prisoner is dragged in – it's Bruce Wayne, one of Gotham's most famous faces – but the eyes of the crowd go instead to the woman in black standing at the top of the staircase.

"Sorry to spoil things, boys, but Bane needs these guys himself," says sultry Selina Kyle, played here by actress Anne Hathaway, navigating the steps with stiletto heels that, on closer inspection, turn out to have serrated edges capable of leaving nasty claw marks in a fight. She also wears high-tech goggles that, when not in use, flip up and resemble feline ears.

Top 10 Most Pirated Movies of 2011

Well, usually here on STV the discussion is more about the most pirated shows and how networks try to figure out how those numbers mesh in with standard Nielsen and DVR ratings.

Top sci-fi shows like Fringe and Supernatural usually see the biggest jumps from DVR and of course being usually on the list for most pirated shows. Pirating of course is not the best list to be a part of, but at the same time shows the popularity with fans online and globally. Shows like LOST and Heroes would always make the top of the list for most pirated shows.

However, in the movie industry pirating is a bit different and movies are usually released globally and Hollywood is always concerned with the potential loss of revenue. We love the list because it has a few different movie genres represented and you can pretty much understand why some of them made the list.

The Dark Knight Rises - Six Minute Prologue and Sneak Peek

Over this holiday week, The Dark Knight Prologue has been airing ahead of IMMAX shownigs of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and it is stunning. Yes, it is hard to understand what Bane is saying, but it was still sweet six minutes!

Here is the prologue for those that have not seen it still, but keep in mind this is NOT the greatest quality and we truly recommend trying to see the IMAX version in theaters if possible.

Also, whoever initially uploaded this seems to have uploaded the video flipped so you will notice the logos are backwards.

War Horse - Movie Review

The critically acclaimed West End and now Broadway play War Horse is brought to life on the big screen in this adaptation by Steven Spielberg.

Based on the novel and play of the same name, War Horse follows a young boy named Albert(Jeremy Irvine) and his unlikely friendship with a horse, Joey. After taking Joey home as a child, Albert ultimately forms an unbreakable bond with the creature, a bond that is ultimately broken when his family is forced to give up the horse to make ends meet. At the outbreak of World War I, Joey is then enlisted to be a war horse on the battlefield, while back at home Albert vows to find his horse.

Steven Spielberg has created an epic masterpiece here. The film itself is an emotional journey filled with a lot of heart. Though the plot itself is simple, it is the emotional depth and relationships between characters that bring out the best in this film. In his first big feature film, actor Jeremy Irvine is able to create the innocence in Albert while delivering a strong, sensitive and sometimes heartbreaking relationship with his character's horse Joey. Every moment that is shared between the boy and his horse ignites waterworks, and add what may be this year's best original score by John Williams to it and you have an outstanding cinematic work. Spielberg has managed to capture the magnificent beauty of the English countryside as well as the terrors of the First World War excellently, and in many ways this feels like a throwback to more traditional films in the past.

The horses who played Joey were phenomenal and almost worthy of an acting nomination, that is if it were an actual person. Besides the acting animals, the film's other strength was the superb musical score. John Williams, whose previous most recognizable film scores include Jaws, Star Wars, and E.T. has composed another hit here, and it will be shocking to not see the War Horse score win an award come Oscar season next year.

If there was any doubt before that using real horses rather than the acclaimed puppets in the play would make this movie less of a success, all of that can now be dispelled. A family feature that is powerful, moving, and magnificent, it is safe to say that War Horse is easily the best film of the year.

Disney Updates Marvel Movies Schedule for 2013 and 2014

Below is the current schedule Disney has set for the next batch of Marvel's super hero movies. The only thing that changes is one of the untitled projects for 2014 was moved up earlier from late June to early April on April 4th.

There is still no confirmation about what movies are planned for 2014, but with rumors floating about a possible Dr. Strange and perhaps even an Ant-Man or Runaways movie in the pipeline who knows what we will see and if these dates will change again. However, one of them could be Captain America 2.

The other thing to note is how close both the movies in 2014 are currently planned for, indicating that they might possibly be connected in some way.

The Dark Knight Rises - Minor Plot Spoiler or Another Easter Egg?

Earlier this week we posted an image of the Robin "R" logo that appeared in the most recent The Dark Knight Rises trailer and most seem to believe that it is just an Easter egg and that there is no evidence of Robin appearing in the movie.

Well here is another cool Easter egg from the trailer but also hints and a minor plot spoiler.

The images below are pretty self explanatory, but for those that don't understand, basically Anne Hathaway plays Selina Kyle aka Catwoman and is seen wearing a pearl necklace in the new trailer. Well thanks to the fellas at SlashFilm for the heads up, but this is the same pearl necklace way back in Batman Begins.

Although, I've never seen the Muppets on the big screen before. I've watched them since we had our first TV set. I almost didn't realize my mistake either when I called it The Muppet Show when I was purchasing a ticket today.

It had been almost a month, not even half-price Tuesday could fill the theatre for the matinee. Still I did notice the appeal was more for the older people than the children in the audience. I've seen all their movies and this one was certainly big by comparison. It had more Muppets, more music numbers, and an even bigger plot. I must admit, I was more than a bit awestruck as Walter was when I first saw Kermit's face fill the screen. The music numbers were reminiscent of old Hollywood classics. Each song resonated for Muppet and human characters alike. Mickey Rooney's cameo notwithstanding, the overall movie had a Babes on Broadway feel about it. And that ain't a bad thing.

"It's time to play the music. It's time to light the lights..." I thought the theme song had a special place in my heart because of the familiarity. It did until Kermit started playing that familiar tune on the banjo in a duet with Miss Piggy. That song made it magical.

Even if you don't have kids to share it with, it's definitely a treat for your inner child.

The Descendants - Movie Review

George Clooney gives a powerful moving performance in the Alexander Payne directed movie The Descendants.

Set in the exotic Kaua'i, The Descendants follows lawyer Matt King(George Clooney) who reconnects with his family after a tragic boating accident leaves his wife Elizabeth(Patricia Hastie) living on life support. Forced to reconcile and come to terms with his past mistakes, Matt must take care of his two daughters, 10-year-old Scottie(Amara Miller) and her rebellious older sister Alex(Shailene Woodley). Things take a turn for the worst when Matt is notified by the doctors that Elizabeth was going to be taken off of life support, meaning her life has now be reduced to a few weeks, and also when Alex enlightens him to the fact that his wife was cheating on him and was planning on getting a divorce. What ensues is a heartbreaking tale about a family as they come together to deal with the many issues that they have been stuck with.

While The Descendants sounds like a "been there, done that" story that is simple, the film is in actuality anything but boring or redundant. What director Alexander Payne has created here is a immensely touching film that is then further perfected thanks to George Clooney's portrayal of the protagonist Matt King. Clooney delivers in every department of acting here, making the audience so emotionally invested in the lives of his character and family, that at times you might even forget that you are simply just watching a movie on the big screen. Further, Secret Life's Shailene Woodley proves that she has acting capabilities beyond that of a ABC Family series, as her character, the troubled Alex also adds another level of emotional depth to the family's ongoing issues.

The Descendants is bound to stir up your emotions, as this George Clooney fronted film is compelling, poignant and enthralling.

Well in the trailer during the football scene you will see a bunch of fans holding up signs that spell out the team name R-O-G-U-E-S. The kicker is the "R" in Rogues is exactly the same look as the R logo for Robin.

Below are some images for you to check out and compare. So is this a hint at Robin being a part of the movie after all or just a nice little Easter egg??

The Social Network team is back with David Fincher directing and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross orchestrating the score in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, an adaptation of the best-selling novel of the same name by Stieg Larsson. The dramatic thriller, which stars Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara is also the second adaptation of the book with the first being the Swedish film starring Noomi Rapace.

Mikael Blomkvist(Daniel Craig) is a publisher of Millenium magazine who receives a job offer Henrik Vanger(Christopher Plummer) to solve a mystery regarding a missing family member, Harriet. As Blomkvist digs deeper into the case, he also learns that Vanger ran a background check prior to him being hired. His check was done by a emotionally insane and edgy computer genius, Lisbeth Salander(Rooney Mara). Together the pair dig deep into Henrik Vanger's family's past, as twists and turns come along the way in this movie adaptation which stays rather closely to its source material.

The whole movie itself had a look and feel that is very much identical to that of The Social Network, as Fincher's style is scattered throughout the entire film. The score by Reznor and Ross also holds many similarities to Social Network, though the Network score is much more suited and well-put together than the Dragon Tattoo one. For those who have neither seen the Swedish films nor read the critically acclaimed novels will have no problem following the film's plot however, as Fincher manages to cut down on the novel's rather lengthy parts yet still making the movie comprehensible and enjoyable for the audience.

The cast is filled with many recognizable faces, with Christopher Plummer, Stellan Skarsgard, Robin Wright and Joely Richardson playing important supporting roles. Daniel Craig is suitable in the role of trouble publisher Michael Blomkvist, though it seems as if he did not put an ounce of effort into trying to channel a Swedish accent. Following the first line, he simply resorted to speaking with his English accent, a factor that is made more noticeable than it should be thanks to all the other characters speaking with Swedish accents. The real highlight of the film comes in the award worthy performance by Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander. Mara should indeed be honored as the "breakout star of the year" as she manages to bring multiple levels of complexity and emotional vulnerability to the role. Lisbeth Salander's trouble upbringing and sheer technological talent is brilliantly translated on the screen thanks to Mara's impeccable performance.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has Rooney Mara to thank as she carries this film from beginning to end, as this edge-of-your-seat thriller would have been just average without the actress in it.

Moneyball - Movie Review

Aaron Sorkin hits another home-run with his latest film, Moneyball, which delves into the politics and business behind the popular American sport.

Directed by Bennett Miller, the film is based on 2003 book of the same name by Michael Lewis. Coming off of his Oscar nominated hit The Social Network last year, I was highly enthusiastic to see Sorkin back with another film. However, besides a wildly witty and well-written screenplay, and superb acting talent by Brad Pitt, I found this movie to be mostly of a bore.

Moneyball follows Billy Beane(Brad Pitt), the Oakland Athletics general manager as he tries to assemble a top-notch team after the team lost to the New York Yankees previously. With the help of Peter Brand(Jonah Hill), a college graduate Beane and Brand work together to assemble an all-star team that includes pitcher Chad Bradford(Casey Bond) and first baseman Scott Hatteberg(Chris Pratt).

The artistically inter-cut scenes of baseball players in action throughout the film was very well inputed and done. And as previously stated, Pitt gives an Academy Award worthy performance in his portrayal of Billy Beane. The film moves at an unbearably slow pace during its 133 minutes duration, and this is especially noticeable for people who aren't baseball fanatics like myself. However, it is undeniable that the screenplay by Sorkin and Pitt's portrayal of Billy Beane is what makes this movie worth watching at least once through.

Magical, adventurous, and a heart-felt family feature for the Holiday season.

Directed by Martin Scorsese, Hugo is a 3-D live action feature film based on the children's book by Brian Selznick and starring Chloe Moretz, Sasha Baron Cohen, Asa Butterfield and Jude Law. The movie takes place in 1931 Paris and follows a young boy named Hugo Cabret(Asa Butterfield) who after the death of his father(Jude Law) is left to maintain the clocks at the railway station while trying to finish his father's project of fixing an automaton.

The film starts at a sluggishly slow pace, and contains to stay at that rate, but the end result of the narrative redeems what the beginning lacks. The cast is also top-notch, with the two child leads, Butterfield and Moretz both suiting in their respective roles. Sasha Baron Cohen also brings light humor in the role of the train station inspector, and Ben Kingsley perfects the role of former acclaimed filmmaker Georges Méliès.

Being unfamiliar with the work of Georges Méliès, the film worked as a adventure mystery for me. I went into the film with not idea what to expect but "an adventure", and was surprised to find such an immensely touching tale unravel before my eyes. The direction by Scorsese is wondrous, and the cinematography a visual feast. Those who despise 3-D movies should make this one an exception, as the 3-D magically weaves itself into the plot so well that it only enhances the overall experience.

While the plot itself could have moved along quicker at parts of the film, it is no doubt that Hugo is a work of cinematic art. And with a talented cast and top-notch director behind it, this movie is well worth a trip with your family to the movie theatres.

Director Christopher Nolan recently did an interview where he discussed a major plot point for The Dark Knight. For those that missed it, the new Batman sequel will actually have a time jump of 8 years and many fans have been debating why? We have discussed it a couple of times on our podcast as well.

Well, here are some of Nolan's thoughts and head to MTV for more details.

"If I had to express it thematically, I think what we’re saying is that for Batman and Commissioner Gordon, there’s a big sacrifice, a big compromise, at the end of the 'The Dark Knight' and for that to mean something, that sacrifice has to work and Gotham has to get better in a sense. They have to achieve something for the ending of that film — and the feeling at the end of that film — to have validity. Their sacrifice has to have meaning and it takes time to establish that and to show that, and that’s the primary reason we did that."

Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf the Grey, the character he played in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Martin Freeman in the central role of Bilbo Baggins. Also reprising their roles from The Lord of the Rings movies are: Cate Blanchett as Galadriel; Ian Holm as the elder Bilbo; Christopher Lee as Saruman; Hugo Weaving as Elrond; Elijah Wood as Frodo; Orlando Bloom as Legolas; and Andy Serkis as Gollum.

The ensemble cast also includes (in alphabetical order) Richard Armitage, John Bell, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Luke Evans, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Barry Humphries, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Evangeline Lilly, Sylvester McCoy, Bret McKenzie, Graham McTavish, Mike Mizrahi, James Nesbitt, Dean O'Gorman, Lee Pace, Mikael Persbrandt, Conan Stevens, Ken Stott, Jeffrey Thomas, and Aidan Turner.

The screenplays for both The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again are by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson. Jackson is also producing the films, together with Fran Walsh and Carolynne Cunningham. The executive producers are Alan Horn, Ken Kamins, Toby Emmerich and Zane Weiner, with Boyens serving as co-producer.

Under Jackson's direction, both movies are being shot consecutively in digital 3D using the latest camera and stereo technology. Filming is taking place at Stone Street Studios, Wellington, and on location around New Zealand.

Among the creative behind-the-scenes team returning to Jackson's crew are director of photography Andrew Lesnie, production designer Dan Hennah, conceptual designers Alan Lee and John Howe, composer Howard Shore and make-up and hair designer Peter King. The costumes are designed by Ann Maskrey and Richard Taylor. The score is being composed by Howard Shore.

Taylor is also overseeing the design and production of weaponry, armour and prosthetics which are once again being made by the award winning Weta Workshop. Weta Digital take on the visual effects for both films, led by the film's visual effects supervisor, Joe Letteri. Post production will take place at Park Road Post Production in Wellington.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again are productions of New Line Cinema and MGM, with New Line managing production. Warner Bros Pictures is handling worldwide theatrical distribution, with select international territories as well as all international television licensing, being handled by MGM.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be released beginning December 14, 2012. The second film, The Hobbit: There and Back Again, is slated for release the following year, beginning December 13, 2013.

Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock stars in the new G.I. Joe sequel and along with Bruce Willis gives the movie some star power.

We are not convinced this sequel was needed, but there trailer makes the movie look cool and fun.

When a movie like Spider-Man is rebooted you wonder if it can stand alone from the previous films and so far most of what we have seen has received some positive buzz.

We are still holding out to judge anything, BUT this new promo poster on a slow week of news is pretty sweet!
